ComplyDog now integrates with Google Consent Mode v2. When a visitor makes a choice in your ComplyDog cookie banner, ComplyDog passes it straight to your Google tags, including Google Analytics, Google Ads and Google Tag Manager. No extra code needed.
What Consent Mode does
Google Consent Mode lets your website tell Google tags whether a visitor has consented to cookies. Google tags then adjust how they behave based on that choice. With ComplyDog, your banner and your Google tags stay in sync automatically.
What's included
- One toggle to turn it on. Enable Google Consent Mode v2 in your Cookie Widget settings, and your install code includes everything Google needs.
-
All four required Google consent types. ComplyDog sets
ad_storage,analytics_storage,ad_user_dataandad_personalizationto denied by default, and updates them as soon as the visitor makes a choice. Returning visitors' saved choices are sent automatically. - A Google Tag Manager template. Prefer Google Tag Manager? Add the ComplyDog template from the Community Template Gallery, enter your campaign ID, and you're set. It also lets you set different defaults for different regions.
- Basic and advanced Consent Mode. Let Google tags load with limited, cookieless signals until consent, or hold them back completely until the visitor agrees.
- Recommended banner text. One click adds Google's suggested banner wording, including a link to how Google uses data.
-
Debug mode. Add
?cdog_debug=1to your site's address to check that ComplyDog loads before your Google tags.
Get started
- In your ComplyDog dashboard, open Cookie Widget, then Content, and turn on Enable Google Consent Mode v2.
- Copy the install code from the Install tab and place it at the top of your website's
<head>, above your Google tags. Or use our Google Tag Manager template instead. - Check your setup with debug mode.
